Spark Collaborative Innovation.  Drive Performance Improvement.

Learn how to use the Challenge Dialogue System to address complex, multi-stakeholder challenges.

Solving complex challenges requires the input of many diverse groups. But collaborating to find a common purpose and define shared solutions is tough work – too often the context is unclear, the scope is undefined, and key assumptions are unspoken.

The Challenge Dialogue System® (CDS) Learning Program can help.

The CDS Learning Programs provides you with the fundamentals you need to use CDS for collaborative innovation. It is designed to help pathfinders, teams, and individual practitioners understand how complex, multi-stakeholder challenges can be addressed collaboratively, efficiently and effectively.

4 WAYS TO LEARN

CDS ESSENTIALS

Customized subsets of CDS principles, processes, and tools that have proven to be particularly effective for supporting specific steps and tasks when organizing a team to address a complex task, run an efficient planning meeting, design a group workshop/event, design and build an innovation network, explore possible futures and their implications, or organize and convene a transformational challenge dialogue.

FOUNDATION LEARNING PROGRAM

Helps you understand the proven power and practice of the CDS. It uses the organization and operation of a challenge-focused, time-based Challenge Dialogue as the focal point for introducing the principles, processes, tools, and other specialized resources, along with incremental task completion to gain practical experience.

ACTION LEARNING PROGRAM

Combines the FLP (required) with a deeper CDS learning experience through the development of a comprehensive and coherent plan for a complete, standard Challenge Dialogue – all 8 steps. The resulting plan is a Process Planning Memo (PPM), which can be used immediately as the blueprint for your own Challenge Dialogue.

PRACTITIONER ACCREDITATION PROGRAM

The CDS Network offers a specially designed accreditation program for those learners that are interested in formally becoming CDS Practitioners. This involves a progression of accreditation pathways from CDS Practice–Apprentice, –Associate, –Lead, and finally CDS Practice–Master.

As an executive coach searching for a unique tool for my executive clients, CDS was the perfect fit. It has the wisdom of innovative applications that have been used for over 45 successful years, the depth and breadth to deal with complex challenges and the flexibility of applying it in; different sectors, cultures, group sizes, and a variety of situations. I highly recommend it!

OUR APPROACH

Following the introductory, context-setting module (Module 0), the Learning Program walks you through an incremental set of 8 self-learning modules. The 8 modules mirror each step in the Challenge Dialogue process. Over the course of these weekly sessions, you:

  • Learn the 8 practical steps to running a Challenge Dialogue, including some of the short-cuts!

  • Access and apply the learning resources and templates to run your own Challenge Dialogue almost right away

  • Gain experience using the resource tools through practical assignments

  • Get mentoring from the practice leads during your learning journey

  • Build your network with peers in your cohort

At the end of the Learning Program, you will have gained a sound understanding of the power of CDS, including what resources are available, and when and how to use them.  You will also develop the beginning skills and confidence in applying CDS for your own complex challenges, and be able to better mentor teams to focus on collaborative innovation and improve their performance.
