Using A Design Thinking Methodology To Lead Innovation Across The Globe

Putting the power of CDS to work.

CDS has been used successfully to address numerous, diverse, complex challenges globally, nationally, regionally, and locally with industry, government, non-profit organizations, and research agencies across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Since 1990, the Challenge Dialogue System has been at the forefront of nearly every major innovative initiative in Canada.

CDS is grounded in a design thinking methodology.  This enables us to use the principles and processes of CDS to take on challenges that cover a broad range of subject areas:

  • environmental management

  • affordable housing

  • program evaluation

  • agriculture research

  • cancer

  • technology commercialization

  • energy system collaboration

Assessment & Implementation of Digital Soil Mapping (DSM)

A Challenge Dialogue with the soil survey community (federal, states, universities) of continental United States to design a collaborative series of digital soil mapping pilots quickly and efficiently.

I have participated in two complex multi-stakeholder collaborations, and witnessed quickly how the Challenge Dialogue System (CDS) design thinking methodology helped focus and align the seemingly disparate needs and goals of stakeholders across different sectors. The CDS was instrumental in preparing the Greater Victoria Alliance for Literacy to move into the difficult and complex work of outcome mapping.
